How to keep your feet healthy
Step 1: Practise Good Hygiene
Your feet and toes can easily catch germs and fungi if good hygiene is not practiced. Fungal infections are very contagious and are easily contracted from contaminated wet surfaces. The fungi, similarly to common mushrooms, leave behind tiny and invisible spores which are attached to fragments of dead or shredded skin of infected people. Humidity and frequented places where people walk barefoot are a true “breeding ground” for fungi and their spores, for example, in the showers, changing rooms of sports facilities and common swimming pools or sauna. Avoiding contact with these wet surfaces, for instance by wearing flip-flops, can help prevent infections. It is also always important to dry your feet properly (also between the toes) after washing or sporting. Especially after visiting common wet areas it is recommended to keep your feet healthy with a spray such as FunghiClearTM.
Step 2: Clean Shoes
It is very important to pay attention to your shoes. Make sure your shoes fit properly so the skin will not be damaged by intensive usage. Also you should maintain your shoes well and change them regularly. For your daily shoes it is recommended not to wear these for too long (maximum 2 to 3 days in a row) and air them properly afterwards. For sports shoes and sneakers it is important to dry them properly after usage. In order to help protect your feet from infections, you can spray the inside of the shoes with one or two “puffs” of the FunghiClearTM Spray. Do this before and after usage of the shoes and socks.
Step 3: Everybody joins
To keep healthy and the good appearance of toenails and feet of everyone at home, it is important to protect the feet and toenails of your otherwise healthy household members. Especially if you are an active sporter, it is easy to get infected or carry spores with you in your sports shoes and socks. Spraying your feet, shoes and socks with FunghiClear can help protect and keep your feet healthy and prevent spreading any infection to other members of the household
Fungal infections of the feet and toes are specific to the skin and nails of your feet. These fungi grow well in the specific micro-biome of your feet and are not very likely to do well on other parts of the human skin. But the infection is contagious and, especially because of the spores that can come to life many months or even years after, fungal infections of the feet can easily spread from one toe(nail) to the next. Just as easy these fungal infections can spread to other members of the family that you share for instance the bathroom with.
Step 4: Good Treatment
Fungal can be hard to treat, and easy to return after treatment, even many months or years later. To improve the chances of successful treatment and prevention of re-infection it is important to focus on two things. First treatment compliance is essential. Even when symptoms of the fungal infection have disappeared, it is essential to continue the treatment for at least 3 months. Often treatment up to 12 months is recommended. And for elderly people or people with a compromised immune system it is strongly recommended to have your feet treated at least twice a year by a professional therapist such as a pedologist or pedicure. If in doubt, please consult your podiatrist or doctor.
Step 5: Good Foot Care
Lastly, it is important that you keep your feet in optimal condition throughout the year. No matter whether you are an active sporter or passive lifer, whether you are old or young or whether you are healthy or impacted by a chronic or acute medical condition. After all it’s your feet that “keep you going” and ensure that you stay connected and mobile. We all know that to stay in good shape we should brush our teeth and wash our hands regularly during the day. Similarly you should take good care of your feet, using a balming cream or a natural active ingredients spray that is effective and safe for long term use such as FunghiClearTM.
